How to Remove or Delete Recovery Partition Samsung Series 9

I just bought Samsung Series 9 with SSD 128 GB. The problem is when I shrink the C: drive and created new partition volume, I got the message "The operation selected will convert the disk to dynamic. Are you sure you want to continue?". The problem is there are already 4 partitions in the SSD.

First partition is 100 MB system volume. The second is C: drive (boot drive), then the third is hibernation partition (4 GB), and the last is recovery partition of Samsung Seres 9 (20 GB). After did backup to the DVD and hardisk, I decided to delete the hibernation partition and recovery partition using EaseUS Partition Manager free edition. There is no any effect after I delete the partitions, except I saved more than 24 GB space.

After read from the manual, hibernation partition used by Intel Rapid Start Technology (IRST) for faster booting. But I already delete the partition and my samsung seies 9 boot still fast. Now, I tried to recover the hibernation partition on Samsung series 9. I use Samsung Easy Setting, and in the general tab, I clicked on to off, and then clicked again from off to on, then the software recreate the hibernation partition.

Now, I can create the new volume partition, and also have 20GB added space. When I need to recover the Windows, I just use source from the DVD or external hard disk.

Direct Nonstop Flight from Jakarta (CGK) to Jayapura (DJJ)

There are so many flights from Jakarta to Jayapura. Garuda Indonesia, Merpati Nusantara, Lion Air, Sriwijaya Air, Express Air, and Batavia Air.

There are some route served by the airline and the stops between Jakarta and Jayapura:
  • Jakarta (CGK) - Surabaya (SUB) - Makassar/Ujung Pandang (UPG) - Sorong (SOQ) - Manokwari (MKW) - Sentani Jayapura (DJJ)

  • Jakarta (CGK) - Makassar/Ujung Pandang (UPG) - Biak (BIK) - Sentani Jayapura (DJJ)

  • Jakarta (CGK) - Denpasar (DPS) - Timika (TIM) - Jayapura (DJJ)
  • Jakarta (CGK) - Makassar/Ujung Pandang (UPG) - Sentani Jayapura (DJJ)

Personally, I hate take-off and landing, because most airline required us to go to the terminal when the airplane stop even with same aircraft. Garuda Indonesia is one that give passengers option to leave to terminal or stay on the airplane on transit when the next flight is use the same aircraft. But, transit is still annoying me, because I can't sleep well during landing because seat have to be upright.

The good news, Lion Air now serve direct nonstop flight from Jakarta to Jayapura using JT-794 depart from Jakarta (CGK) at 22.30 GMT+7 and arrive at Jayapura (DJJ) at 06.00 GMT+9 (5 hours 30 minutes). My last flight using Lion Air was good. I slept few minutes after take-off and awake near arrival at Sentani Jayapura (DJJ). This is good for people who hate take-off and landing.

Kenduri Lebaran / Hari Raya Idul Fitri Festivy

Kenduri is a tradition in my village, where the host or home owner invite people in village to celebrate birth, marriage, new homes, death or other celebration. Our village also celebrate Idul Fitri by kenduri lebaran. Even this is celebration of Muslims, all people in the neighborhood invited in the kenduri.

The Kenduri in my neighborhood is very small celebration that held for just 15 minutes. The priest start to have a short speech and then pray. Then the host distribute the kenduri packages: cooked and uncooked. We can choose one of them to take-home.

How about Christmas celebration? Because of religious harmony in our neighborhood, we also have Christmas Kenduri in December who the host are the Christians, and all people also invited and came in the kenduri. What a peaceful neighborhood, and I just hope that this will last forever.

Happy Idul Fitri!

White Tiger in Indonesia

White tiger is endangered species in India. I have my chance to take photos of white tiger when visited Taman Safari Indonesia at Cisarua, Bogor.

Taman Safari Indonesia have white tiger babies, and we can take photo with them.

Take photo with 'big cat' is very fun!

I still have question about how to get license to take care of tiger in Indonesia. Some people already did that, and it will be interesting if I can have baby tiger in our backyard.

Garuda Indonesia Business / Executive Class Experience

August 8th, 2012 was the second time when I use Garuda Indonesia Business /Executive Class from Jayapura (DJJ). The main reason is just simple: there are no economy seat available on the flight. I went to Jakarta on the peak season on the "go-show" condition. I waited at Garuda ticketing office until they closed the check in system.

I went to Jakarta at the date and I got price about IDR 9.500.000 for business class from Jayapura (DJJ) to Jakarta (CGK). So I decided to take the business class route from Jayapura (DJJ) to Makassar (UPG) with the price of about IDR 6.500.000. The next problem, at Makassar I tried to get ticket from Makassar to Jakarta but all flights was full, so I went from Makassar (UPG) to Yogyakarta (JOG) with cost about IDR 1.400.000 by Merpati Nusantara Airlines and from Yogyakarta (JOG) to Jakarta (CGK) next morning (9th August) by Batavia Air that cost me about IDR 600.000. My home at Yogyakarta is just about 20 minutes from airport, so I saved cost for hotel.

Back to the Business / Executive class of Garuda Indonesia, the ticket is 3-4 times more expensive than Garuda Indonesia economy seats. What I got was larger space, larger seat and more food / inflight meals at business class. The "bad thing" was almost all passengers in business class were senior citizens.

There are electric plug at the seats of 737-800NG's business class, so for long haul flight we can work using laptop without afraid when facing low battery. From 11 passengers with me at the business class, just me use AVOD (Audio Video On Demand), the other passengers prefer to sleep.

Good experience, but when remember the cost, still too hard for middle class people like me. But again, the cost is "paid" when I realized that all my tasks in Jakarta is well-done on time.

The Boeing 737-800 Winglet of Sriwijaya Air PK-CLA

As the frequent traveler, I use so many airline companies with many type of aircraft. One of my favorite aircraft is Boeing 737-800 with winglet. The Boeing company said that winglet option is for fuel efficiency. I just think that winglet is just for new Boeing aircraft.

Sriwijaya Air Boeing 737-800 PK-CLA

I just arrived at 1 August 2012 using Garuda Indonesia PK-GMU when I spotted Sriwijaya Air Boeing 737-800 series with registration number PK-CLA. The I search and got the history from planesplotter.net that PK_CLA is used aircraft and it's first flight was at year 1999. After search for the pictures, I noticed that this aircraft not used winglet before.

So, the old aircraft is available to have winglet. Winglets cost about 725,000 USD and take about 1 week to install which costs an extra $25-80,000 USD. Once fitted, they add 170-235kg (375-518lbs) to the weight of the aircraft, depending upon whether they were installed at production or a retrofit (b737.org.uk).

The moral story: Don't judge aircraft age by it's winglet.

Airline Inflight Meals Garuda Indonesia GA-217 and GA-652

Yesterday (31/7/2012) I went from Yogyakarta (JOG) to Jayapura (DJJ) via Jakarta (CGK) - Denpasar (DPS) - Timika (TIM) with Garuda Indonesia. I got Garuda Indonesia promo fare by booking via their web at the morning (01.00 GMT+7) so I decided to book and paid the ticket.

First flight, GA-217 boarded from Yogyakarta on 19.05 GMT+7 and then departed few 20 minutes later using Boeing 737-800 series without AVOD (Audio Video on Demand). But I love this aircraft configuration because we got more spacious comfortable seat compared with AVOD version. On the flight, we got meals with Ramadhan theme.

For flight less than 1 hour, Garuda Indonesia provide hot/cold drink with snacks. I don't to care with the meal since my stomach was full after ate at Blue Sky Lounge Adisutjipto Airport Yogyakarta.

Then we arrived at Jakarta at 20.30 GMT+7 and I went to transit desk and then proceed to Emerald Sky Lounge Cengkareng at Terminal 2F and grab some drink and vegetables. After ate and waited about 1 hour, we boarded at 22.00 GMT+7 using brand new Boeig 737-800NG PK-GMU with Boeing Sky Interior and AVOD.

From Jakarta (CGK) to Denpasar (DPS) with about 2 hours trip, we got dinner I chose tuna... arrgh, i forgot the name! Here is the screenshot.

From Ngurah Rai Airport Denpasar (DPS) to Moses Kilangin Airport Timika (TIM) is around 4 hours trip but I felt sleepy and very full, so I decided not to take the meal. After transit at Timika (TIM) we continue to went to Sentani Airport Jayapura (DJJ). We went around on the air of Jayapura for about 10 minutes because of airport traffic jam and landed safely at 09.00 GMT+9.

Paid Review Cost and Fees

I used to get lots of email to review products and websites, and most of them are paid review. I tried some of them, but after few times, I felt that paid review sometimes make my review is unfair because make me stand up on the side of the payer.

How much usually advertiser willing to pay for the review? They will pay for about $5 to thousands dollars based on traffic and credibility of the website. I love the natural blog universe, where people give review for product without need to be paid, so the reviewer can give balanced rating to the product based on their own experience.

Milestone of Papua: Quo Vadis?

When I visited Papua, I went from Abepura to Jayapura. Jayapura at now is not like Jayapura in the past. The city have problem with traffic jam, because everyone bought new cars, but there is no increment in road length. Transportation system to rural area in the mountains of Papua still only using Airplane. There is no road from Jayapura to Wamena.

The next, is political problem. Papua doesn't have Governor elected for almost than 1 years. The local regulation about Papuans native to be governor still go into debates. Electoral Commission in Papua Province can't do anything but wait until the regulation fixed to continue the election processes.

The other, as Information Technology consultant Papua still lack in IT infrastructure. We only can get connected to the world just by using satellite dish. Even there are ADSL broadband service provided by Telkom (Speedy), the backbone of Telkom is still using satellite. Even in some big city like Jayapura, Telkom installed fiber optic system for intra-city, there are no fiber optic connection to outside Papua. Telkom authorities said that Papua will be connected by fiber optic in 2014.

So, what is the real Papua milestone from my personal perspective? This picture is taken today at Skyline-Entrop, jayapura.

Papua Milestone

The next picture is taken about a hundred meters from the picture above. Do Papua need a new milestone (again)?

My Personal Movies Wish List

When I was in junior high school, I like to watch TV serial. Most of them are hero and superhero serial. Now, some of them already go to the movies, some of them are: Spiderman, Superman, The-A-Team. I also see regularly the new serial of Hawai-Five-O in AXN. I just wish producers in Holywood would make te following TV serial into a movie:

MacGyver

The secret agent MacGyver played by Richard Dean Anderson. MacGyver prefers non-violent resolutions where possible, and refuses to handle a gun.

The Six Million Dollar Man

I don't know what is price to build bionic technology in 2012. Even with inflation since 1980, six million dollar is still big money (al least for me). Inflation make some goods-price higher, but products of technology should be cheaper day by day? The good news, just heard the news that this movie in on production.

How about you?

Visit Palangkaraya, Central Borneo (Again)

I just landed at Palangkaraya, and not much change on the infrastructure here after 1 year from my last visit. Palangkaraya is capital city of Central Borneo Province. The funny things, when I updated status of my Twitter account, the GPS said that I was at West Borneo.

I went to Palangkaraya by Lion Air's flight from Yogyakarta with flight number JT-567 (10/July) with aircraft registration PK-LHL depart at 15.50 GMT+7. Few minutes before landed to Jakarta, pilot announced that the aircraft will go around because only one Jakarta (CGK) runway serviceable. There was an aircraft blocked the north runway. After few minuter go round, pilot announced that the runway service back to normal. We landed safely at 17.00 GMT+7 at gate 1A. Flight from Jakarta (CGK) to Palangkaraya (PKY) by Lion Air is from gate 1B, so we waiting for Lion Air's shuttle bus to move us from 1A to 1B.

Gate 1B very crowded, and then we boarded JT-678 at 20.00, delayed 25 minutes from schedule 19.35 GMT+7. We used aircraft with registration PK-LHU, brand new aircraft with Boeing Sky Interior.

As low cost carier, Lion Air doesn't provide meal as default service. We can buy them on board with flat rate Rp. 10.000 each item.

Then we landed safely at Palangkaraya (PKY) at 22.00 GMT+7.

Humor or Humour?

When I created online jokes, I was confused with keywords: humor and humour. After search on the web, I got that humor and humour actually are same word with different spelling. Humor mostly used in American English, and humour used in British English.

Most words ending in an unstressed -our in British English (e.g. colour, flavour, harbour, honour, humour, labour, neighbour, rumour) end in -or in American English (cf. color, flavor, harbor, honor, humor, labor, neighbor, rumor). Wherever the vowel is unreduced in pronunciation, this does not occur: e.g. contour, velour, paramour and troubadour are spelled thus the same everywhere.

Sukhoi Superjet 100 Missing at Indonesia on Demo Flight

Sukhoi-Superjet-100-Halim-Perdanakusuma

I was at Jayapura, Papua (9th May, 2012) when heard the news about Sukhoi aircraft missing in Indonesia. In my first imagination, the missing airplane should be a fighter jet owned by Indonesian Air Force. But, after read the aircraft type Sukhoi Superjet 100, then I remembered that this is a regional jet for civil aviation.

I still sad with many accident on pioneer flights in Papua last year, and I just hope the aircraft and passengers will be found as soon as possible :(

Why Javanese People Take a Handful of Soil When Moved?

One of the Javanese tradition when someone move to a new house is take a handful of soil from the homeland to the new house and then spread of soil on the home page. The elder people said that this tradition will make people who moved in new house will be feel at home.

Don't be provocated by the post title. Of course not all Javanese people did that. Today maybe just minority of people stil use the tradition. I searched on Google but don't find anything about this tradition, so I write this to start a discussion, so we can share the practice in our culture. How about yours?

How to Monetize Mobile Website Traffic

From my previous post about increase of mobile traffic to some of my websites, mobile traffic is the future of internet, and the future is now.

With the new technology and capability of smart phone, it's possible to add multimedia ads (picture, sound) in mobile website or blog. From my personal experience, I use Admob (then migrated to Google Adsense), and Inmobi to monetize the mobile website traffic. The revenue of mobile web traffic is about 10% compared by regular traffic, but I think it's better than no revenue at all. Beside that, provide mobile interface is good way to engage with your potential customers.

The next problem now, some mobile browsing technology use their own proxy, so many users with same browser come from the same IP address. For example, mobile users with Opera Mini and Blackberry (BIS), their access is identified come from Opera and Blackberry gateway, and Inmobi and Adsense won't show ads from the Opera Mini and Blackberry (BIS) visitors. So, the next question is: how to monetize Opera Mini and Blackberry traffic?

Increase of Mobile Traffic

Most people around me now use smartphone with internet connection. When I checked the data from my websites that have mobile interface, in the begin of this month I got data that make me surprised. The visitors to my website is dropped in the significant amount. After I checked again, our visitor is increased, but the portion of mobile users is increased with 42 percent of mobile visitors.

The next problem is, mobile visitors rarely click the ads in the website, so the revenue from advertising dropped. But this is the future! People go mobile and everything should can to accessed by mobile devices.

How to Enable mod_rewrite Module in cPanel / WHM

I just tried to open WHM using web based interface and could not find the raw configuration of Apache. WHM interface only show some basic configuration.

If you install cPanel in default configuration, mod_rewrite is active by default. Apache configuration in cPanel/WHM located at /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf, and only edit httpd.conf directly if you an expert. If mod_rewrite not installed, just edit the httpd.conf and put or uncomment this line:

LoadModule rewrite_module libexec/mod_rewrite.so
AddModule mod_rewrite.c

Restart the Apache service and check the result. Good luck!
